Archives: From the previous Prometheus Society
Membership Officer
Robert J. Dick, Sr. Ph.D
Dear Inquirer:
Thank you for your interest. The Prometheus Society is a small group of persons who have demonstrated an extremely high level of general intelligence. At present we admit those with adult IQ 164 or higher versus the general population (occurrence 1/30,000 or less). The Society's principal activity is the publication of its journal, "Gift of Fire." This comes out ten times a year. Both members and nonmembers may write for it, though members have priority. Subscription is included with membership, and is available to nonmembers for the price of membership, except that there is no new-subscriber fee.
I am now able to admit anyone whose raw score on the Mega Test or Titan Test is 36 or more; or who has an official "intelligence" score of 164 or more on the Langdon Adult "Intelligence" Test (LAIT). The term "intelligence" with respect to the LAIT and its scoring must not be confused with a mental ability which in California may be measured only by a Psychologist licensed by the State of California. The LAIT is no longer being scored. The Mega and Titan are available online at http://www.eskimo.com/~miyaguch . None of these tests is for the diagnosis of illness or health.
At present dues are 20 US dollars per year in North America and 30 US dollars per year elsewhere. Overseas the Journal is sent by airmail. The Journal is available online free for standard members and print subscribers. Online-only membership or subscription costs 10 US dollars per year anywhere. There is a one-time new-member fee of five US dollars. Please send money only to our Treasurer.
Very truly,
Robert Dick
